Steve Bodi has had an interest in fossils, and any random shiny thing that caught his attention, as long as he can remember. Who isn’t captivated, at least momentarily, by picking up a rock that turns out to be the fossil record of something from so long ago? The lifelong interest took a turn when one of Steve’s brother-in-laws got him to go exploring out west in the U.S. with him. Dino fever ensued – to say the least.
Steve has taken part in the whole scale excavation of a nearly completely articulated hadrosaur specimen from Montana as well as annual field work prospecting for vertebrate fossils. SIPI now has a full preparation workshop in southern Indiana where careful clean up and research of the fossil finds take place. Student internships occasionally are happening at SIPI as well as opportunities to participate in fossil digs in the summer months.
