Another rainy day so no fossil collecting again today. I took a road trip south of my location to Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. The museum/welcome center was very well done and the ranger who greeted me was friendly and well versed in the subject matter. Fossilized mammals were found at this site in the late 1800’s and was an active dig site in the early 1900’s then again in 1985.
I was struck by the beauty of this huge river flood plain and reminded how small one can seem in the midst of this great, open landscape.
